January: The Power Of
Angels
Angels descending, bring from above,
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
~Fanny J. Crosby
Welcome to 2010. It sounds so
far in the distance, doesn't it? Yet it's here
and with it the opportunity to move into this
new decade with a mindset that it's going to be
OK and that we're in this adventure together.
This first positivity newsletter of the New Year
focuses on angels. The word angel comes from the
Greek word "angelos", which means messenger and
that's exactly what they do - provide us with
guidance and messages that can indeed prove very
helpful on this journey called life. While not
everyone believes in the power of angels, in
increasing numbers, many are embracing the
possibility. According to a Washington Times
article, written in 2008, half of Americans
believe they are protected by guardian angels.
This number is said to be on the rise.

Personal Experience
For many of us, our belief in angels is connected to a
personal experience and this is the case with me. While
in junior high school, my grandmother graduated over to
the other side. My mother is an only child and she and
her mother were very close. Soon after my grandmother's
passing an angel came to me in my dreams with messages
to pass on to my mother, which I did. The messages were
not relevant to me, but made complete sense to my
mother. Thus began a life-long journey of talking to,
listening to and appreciating how fortunate I have been
to have this angelic connection.
What is an Angel?
An angel is a pure spirit; an entity of unconditional
love.
Angel Quotes
The reason angels can fly is because
they take themselves lightly.
~G.K. Chesterton, "Orthodoxy"
Angels have no philosophy but love.
~Adeline Cullen Ray
The magnitude of life is overwhelming. Angels are
here to help us take it peace by peace.
~Levende Waters
While we are sleeping, angels have conversations with
our souls.

How to Connect to Your Angels
One of the most effective ways to connect to your angels
is to create an atmosphere of peace and calm, away from
any distractions. This environment will differ from
person to person. Some of you may meditate; others may
talk a walk in the woods. Others might listen to
soothing music, while a hot bath is the ticket to a
stress-free state-of-mind for others. Whatever you can
do to relax is what you want to do, so as you ask
questions of your angels and are open to their
responses, you have an open mind and open heart and can,
therefore, be receptive.
Specific Tips
Some years ago I had the pleasure of spending time with
angel experts and spiritual teachers Trudy Griswold and
Barbara Mark, as I participated in a week-long
Angelspeake facilitators training. As a certified
teacher, I use what I learned, working with these two
sisters, to help others connect to and learn from the
angels. Barbara and Trudy co-authored the popular book,
How To Talk With Your Angels (www.angelspeake.com)
and in it you'll find productive advice on how to
connect to your angels.
The Four Fundamentals
1. Ask - Ask for what you would like to have
transpire in your life and be specific.
2. Believe - Believe you are worthy of what you
are requesting and that you deserve what you are asking
for.
3. Let it Happen - You have made your request;
now step back and let the universe work its magic.
Remember, all is divinely timed and the request will
come to fruition when the time is right.
4. Say Thank You - The angels work
unconditionally, yet they wholeheartedly appreciate it
when we take the time to thank them.
Write to Your Angels
Writing to your angels is a great way to articulate your
feelings and gain clarity about specific issues you
would like guidance on. If you have a question for your
angels, write it down, ask the angels for a response and
then with pen to paper, start writing. Words, images or
feelings will find their way to your paper. The
important thing to do, and this is very important, is to
not judge or question what comes. I am often asked how
you can tell if you are writing a response from an angel
or if the writer is making it up. Trust that what is
coming is from the angels. They will only deliver
helpful messages of light and love. As with other new
activities, the more you write, the better you will be
at it. Commit to writing for a few minutes every day and
you will be quite pleased with the eventual results.
Daily Affirmation
I know I am not alone.
My angels are with me, today, tomorrow and always.
This I realize - they are always by my side.
